    Beyond The Pavement, Learn to MTB with RINEMBA

    Join the New England Mountain Bike Association for an exciting day of mountain biking as part of the 350th anniversary celebrations of North Kingstown! This event aims to introduce new and beginner riders to the world of mountain biking. With experienced instructors and a range of activities suitable for all ages, genders, and abilities, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

    Event Category Descriptions:

    Instructional - Women’s /Gender inclusive intro to MTB (limit 15 participants)-A supportive space led by female instructors for women and gender-fluid individuals.

    Instructional - 50+ intro to MTB (limit 15 participants) - Specifically tailored for riders over 50, celebrating experience and enthusiasm.

    Instructional - Families and kids (Mountain Munchkins) (limit 15 pairs of adult and child) - Share the joy of biking with your children. Each child must be accompanied by an adult, with a limit of 4 children per parent/guardian.

    Instructional - Open intro to MTB. All Welcome (limit 15 participants)

    Just Ride – For those who prefer hitting the trails without formal instruction (no group limit)


    Event Features:

    • Demos: Witness demonstrations showcasing various mountain biking techniques and equipment.
    • Short Clinics: Participate in informative clinics led by expert instructors, covering fundamental skills and safety tips.
    • Group Rides: Embark on guided group rides through the scenic trails of Ryan Park, tailored to accommodate different experience levels. At each ride will be an overview on trail etiquette: passing, group rides, control speeds, respecting wildlife, leave no trace, etc.
    • Lunch: Enjoy complimentary hot dogs and snacks provided by the VFW, offering a chance to refuel and socialize with fellow participants. Vegetarian options available.

    Don’t have a bike, or do you need a helmet? No problem, our friends at Recycle-A-Bike of Providence have lots of bikes available for use. Please email rhodeisland@nemba.org by May 10th and we’ll do our best to get you on a bike.

    Onsite pre-registration strongly encouraged. Please check in with us at the NEMBA registration tent upon arrival.

    The NEMBA Adventure Series - Trek Sturbridge

    Come out to see why Sturbridge, MA is a mountain biking mecca at the crossroads of New England. You'll ride our hidden gem trail networks in peak mountain laurel blooming season.

    NEMBA Trail School, Spring 2024


    Join us at NEMBA Trail School - this hands-on building clinic teaches the basics of trail assessment, design and construction.  Four breakout sessions cover everything from bench cutting and tool/group safety to inclinometer usage, rock armoring and adaptive trail design. This course is perfect for riders, trail enthusiasts, land stewards and land managers interested in learning about creating sustainable, enjoyable trails and how to take care of them.

    We are thrilled to welcome to our newest instructor, CJ Scott, former head of the trails department at one of North America's premier mountain bike destinations, Kingdom Trails. CJ joins longtime trail instructor champions Adam Glick, Paula Burton and Mike Tabaczynski.

    Registration includes a trailside lunch on Saturday and Sunday, use of tools, camping Friday and Saturday, and dinner on Saturday.  Breakfast is not provided. 


    Lodging:

    Camping is included and provided at DCR's Camp Nihan Educational Center, 131 Walnut St., Saugus, MA 01906. Campsite is approximately 5 miles from our venue at the Middlesex Fells.

    Instructors:

    Longtime trail school instructors and champions Adam Glick and Paula Burton return bringing more than 50 years of experience teaching trail school!  Joining Adam and Paula is our newest addition CJ Scott. As head of the the trails department a Kingdom Trails, for 23 years CJ was integral in sustainable trail management, layout & design, planning, maintenance, winter grooming, budgeting, land manager relations and implementation of a wide variety of projects with professional trail crews and volunteers. Rounding out the team is Mike Tabaczynksi.

    It's Summertime and the living is easy! Come live out the dog days at Woody Hill for 3 fantastic, Easy to follow, arrowed loops for all skill levels. Woody Hill showcases some of the best hand-built trails in New England!

    NEMBA - Quebec Velo de Montagne Tour

    Friday August 9 - Sunday August 11, 2024

    This August we're partnering with Quebec Velo de Montagne (QVDM) - the NEMBA of Quebec - to bring our members a once-in-a-lifetime experience. With their impressive network of trails for all tastes and levels, the five destinations of the greater Quebec City region are a must for all mountain biking enthusiasts.


       

    What to Expect:


    • Location: We will be based for the weekend in the heart of the valley at the Vallée Bras-du-Nord, Accueil Shannahan, an outdoor destination less than an hour from Quebec City with mountain biking, hiking, canoeing, kayaking and canyoning.
    • Tent Camping: Base camp will be Camping Shannahan, located at the foot of the Falaises Mountains, 300 meters from Accueil Shannahan.
    • Mountain Biking: Quebec's premier outdoor destination, the Vallée Bras-du-Nord features 100 km of mountain bike trail for two great days of riding for beginners and experts alike. Riding features a seamless blend of flowy singletrack and exhilarating terrain. Trails plunge you into the boreal forest, along vertiginous cliffs, rivers, waterfalls and cascades. On  Sunday, participants will drive to Empire 47, just 20 minutes from downtown Quebec City, with more than 50km of singletrack for all style from beginner to double diamond expert trails. 



      • Guided Rides: Participants can choose between exclusive guided rides by VBN insiders, or self-guided rides
      • Food: Quebec City takes their food seriously and you won't be disappointed. Dinners will be courtesy of the Roquemont Restaurant and Microbrasserie and Restauran Le Mundial.  
      • Social - Post-ride, relax by the fire pits and enjoy snacks and a beverage as you get to know you fellow mountain bikers.
      • Other Activities: When off the bike, you can opt to join group hiking or canoeing outings.

      Come join the Southern New Hampshire chapter of NEMBA for all the fun, while supporting our efforts at Bear Brook State Park! All the money raised by the Boogie goes directly to the park to build, rebuild and maintain trails.

      Celebrate the new season by falling for Pomfret Forest!  The fun ride this year will leaf you astounded, as features and trails have been extensively reworked in preparation for this event.  There won’t be any pumpkin spiced lattes, but there will be some good eats available for purchase at the food truck!  If you haven’t been before, Pomfret Forest boasts an impressive amount of features per mile with the features being optional, so if it isn’t for you, no worries!

      Close out the season with a bang! Always the Sunday after Thanksgiving, Southeast MA NEMBA invites you to join us for the annual Turkey Afterburner!



      Come for the rides, stay for the vibes! We will have self-guided and expert-led rides, music, food, beer garden, fire pit, vendor/sponsor fair, bike demos, skill clinics, raffle, silent auction, giveaways and more!  Proceeds benefit Hale Education youth mountain biking and outdoor education programs and Southeast MA NEMBA trail work efforts.

      What to Expect:

      Experience the amazing trail network at Hale Education, boasting everything from chill fire roads to flowy singletrack to purpose-built technical trails and everything in between, a true gem less than 5 miles outside the city limits of Boston! Support Hale’s mission to foster outdoor education and mountain biking opportunities for youth throughout the Greater Boston community.  Did we mention the awesome skills park and jump bags?  Activities will include:


      • Explore arrowed self-guided routes available to ride throughout the day, including an adaptive loop, catering to all skill levels including Beginner/Family, Novice+, Intermediate and Advanced.
      • Join a group ride with an experienced leader to take on some of the area’s lesser-known trails, including the famous Hale tech!  Enjoy fun flow, rock gardens, enduro or XC, whatever your jam.
      • Take a clinic – offered for adults and kids - to level up your MTB game!
      • Get lunch from a food truck and keep warm around the fire pit
      • Groove to live music in the beer garden.
      • Visit local vendors and bike shops, on-site with product demos, swag, deals and light repair help.
      • Learn more from our other local non-profit partners and sponsors in the vendor fair area

    NEMBA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit focused on recreational trails advocacy with 33 Chapters throughout New England and over 8,000 members. Our goal is to promote the best that mountain biking has to offer, steward the trail systems where we recreate, and ensure access to open space.
